Platform Tennis Project

At their September 12, 2016 Board Meeting, the River Forest Park District Board of Commissioners approved the removal of one lighted Keystone tennis court and the construction of two platform tennis courts in a north-south orientation.  The approval of the two new courts comes after a thorough review of the proposal to add the two new platform tennis courts and a paddle hut.

At their December 12, 2016 Board Meeting, the Board agreed to consider removing a second tennis court to construct the 2 platform tennis courts in a east-west orientation, increase the size of the viewing deck, and allow space for a future unfunded paddle hut.  As part of this consideration, the Board reviewed the financial costs and the impact on the community.  The Board held a January 23, 2017 Public Hearing to hear public comment regarding the loss of the 2nd lighted tennis court.

At their February 13, 2017 Board Meeting, the Board approved the construction of the 2 new platform tennis courts in the north-south orientation, and for the viewing deck in between the old and new courts to be 12′.  Construction of the 2 new platform tennis courts will begin in May.
