Request For Proposal - Concrete Paving Project

Written proposals for the River Forest Park District's 2010 Concrete Paving Project in River Forest, IL shall be received until September 8, 2010.

Specifications may be picked up and proposals returned at the River Forest Park District office, 401 Thatcher Avenue, River Forest, Illinois, starting August 25, 2010 between 8:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday. This is a State of Illinois/Cook County prevailing wage project with a certified payroll to be turned into the Park District.

Keystone Park West Top Dressed With Bio Soil

On Friday, August 27th, Park District staff will top dress Keystone Park West with Bio Soil as part of the Park District's athletic field maintenance program. Bio Soil is an organic fertilizer supplied by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Chicago, derived from the waste treatment process of the agency. The soccer field will be closed for two weeks to allow time for the product to naturally incorporate into the soil. 11th Annual Clear Sky Festival

The Clear Sky Festival is Saturday, September 11th at Keystone Park from 2:00 pm-8:00 pm. The entertainment, food vendors, and inflatable rides end at 6:00 pm. At 6:00 pm, the high energy dodgeball tournament begins for school grades 4th-8th, with teams vying for top award and bragging rights! Register for the dodgeball tournament the day of the event between 2:00 pm-5:30 pm at the Information Tent. Your parent/guardian must be present to sign the dodgeball waiver.

The Festival is presented by the River Forest Park District, the River Forest Police Department, and the Community Bank of Oak Park River Forest.

Come join us for inflatable bouncers, laser tag, airbrush tattoo artist, rock climbing wall, food vendors, bicycle safety course, and more!

Part Time Position Available - Park Ambassador

The Park District is seeking applications for a part-time Park Ambassador position at a rate of $10.00/hour. The Park Ambassador works Monday - Friday, 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm, plus possible Saturday and Sunday hours, between the dates of April 1 - November 15. The position is responsible for supervision of field and facility use, trash collection, and for closing and cleaning 3 Park District restrooms at Priory, Washington, and Keystone Parks.

Qualifications: High school graduate. Minimum of 20 years of age. A valid Illinois State Driver's License (Class A). In good condition with sufficient strength to lift and hold 50 pounds.

Parks Foundation Board Director Vacancy

The River Forest Park District is currently accepting applications to fill a vacant Parks Foundation Board Director position, term to expire in April, 2013.

The River Forest Parks Foundation is an independent group of River Forest residents and business representatives who support the need of parks and recreation for their commuity. The Parks Foundation was created to enhance the quality of life for all River Forest residents by helping provide, through volunteerism and contributions, the best in parks, facilities and recreation opportunities. All donations to the Parks Foundation are tax deductible, as defined by Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

13th Annual Community Bank Makin' Tracks 5K Run/Walk

Registration is now available online at the River Forest Park District website at www.rfparks.com or at www.signmeup.com/69106. The race is scheduled for Saturday, October 2, 2010. The 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8:00 am SHARP, and the Tot Races and Wheelchair Dash will begin at 8:45 am. The Community Bank Makin' Tracks 5K Run/Walk is presented by the Community Bank of Oak Park River Forest, the River Forest Park District, Concordia University Chicago, and Fenwick High School. Net proceeds from this event will benefit the West Suburban Special Recreation Association (WSSRA) to provide superior recreation services for adults and children who have a physical impairment, developmental delay, a mental disability, or any other type of disability. The race is a 3.1 mile USATF-certified course (USATF#IL-08078) that will run through the flat, tree-lined streets of River Forest. The course map is available on this website under the Makin' Tracks icon.
